Loyola Obtains Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification

Loyola Medicine Certified as Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC) by The Joint Commission
CSC certification is granted only to hospitals that meet an advanced level of stroke-related care.
Loyola University Medical Center is proud to announce that we are now certified by The Joint Commission as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. This level of certification, developed in collaboration with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Brain Attack Coalition, recognizes the significant staffing and training resources that comprehensive stroke centers must have to treat complex stroke patients. To be eligible, a hospital must be designated as a Primary Stroke Center and meet additional requirements related to advanced imaging capabilities, 24/7 availability of specialized endovascular stroke treatments, as well as staff education and comprehensive competencies in all phases of stroke care.

Loyola’s Stroke Center includes a nationally recognized team of experts in every facet of stroke-related care, including neurology, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, emergency medicine, rehabilitative services, social work, pharmacy and specialty nursing. In addition, our telemedicine capabilities allow us to assist in the identification and treatment of strokes at outlying hospitals.
