The Loyola EMS System trains providers in Difficult Airway Management

Loyola Emergency Medical Services System in conjunction with some of our adjunct instructors put on a Difficult Airway course earlier this May.

Adjunct Instructor Daniel Carlascio has stated time and again that “patients don’t stop breathing on conference room tables.” Typical airway management courses include practice static intubations with a task-trainer on a table. “Why do we practice intubations like they do?” Dan further wonders.

“The airway course combined difficult airway situations, along with advanced training tools like Video Laryngoscopy, and the popular Suction-Assisted Laryngoscopy Airway Decontamination (S.A.L.A.D.) technique, to better prepare our providers for real-life situations,” said Lead EMS Instructor Oliver Boryszewski.

The LEMSS looks forward to offering more difficult airway classes in the future.
